I would be so grateful to have this ability - I really like how Things3 has done this:
- Add a "when" period (today, tomorrow, next week, anytime) to work on the item
- Add a "Due" date
- Showing a small "flag icon" next to the item like "🏴 3 days left" to know that the deadline for the item is coming up and you have X number of days left to work on it based on the indicated "when" and "due" dates you have assigned to it
This would be EXTREMELY helpful in managing my tasks in Timepage/Actions

One way to think about this feature is the difference between DO (schedule) date and DUE (deadline) date. A task isn't overdue until the due date has passed.
This is also very useful when you have a bigger task or project that you need to work on for multiple days, but you don't actually have to deliver it (complete it) until the deadline.

My use-case for this is that when I schedule a task for a certain day, it normally means that I plan to get it done (or at least make progress on it) on that day. However that doesn't necessarily mean that the task
has to
be complete that day. As it is though, there isn't a good way to see what tasks are urgent in the regard that time to complete them is running out. Having due dates would remedy this nicely. If a task needs to be done by tomorrow, I want to know!Ben Hamey

Ben Hamey: deadlines are separate from the date selection.
Date selection is the day I plan on starting the task, but the deadline is the day the task must be done (the deadline).

Ben Hamey: Not sure if you're still looking for input, but it would be fantastic if you could combine the countdown feature from Timepage with these! Being able to see how many days left until a task is due would be immensely helpful.

This is something that has been requested since 2018, and it's still not implemented in 2022. This is such a key feature for any task-related app. Not only does "Things" have it but almost every other to-do app.
